Live Journal

I've started a Live Journal that will automatically index updates to this journal.

(Friends: please add privs for simonfunk as I probably won't be logged in under my previous lj name much henceforth.)

With leads from Ted*, I found some linux command-line clients for posting. Fortunately, when I tried downloading the binaries, it failed, so I downloaded source instead--fortunate because it crashed as delivered, and I had to fix a number of bugs, and add a couple of features... But still it only took maybe half an hour and now I'll have it wrapped in a script in another couple of minutes which will automate everything and I'll never have to think about it again.

That, of course, is the real joy of programming--never having to think about something again. It's like a cerebellum in a box.

Well, and then there's being able to tweak everything to your heart's content, which I guess is the opposite of never thinking about it again. But one chooses (when all goes well) what to fuss over and what to forget.

When all goes well.

In other random news, check out these great juggling chickens and hot pads Kalistrya* made me:
